Cause for pinching pain in upper back?
Just this week, suddenly I've been experiencing very sharp pinching pain in my upper back along side my spine. Sometimes it occurs when I twist slightly, or sometimes when I pick something up off the floor. I can feel the pain spot with my fingers, and it is to the left of my spine very close to one of the vertebrae. It could that be a bone spur starting to impinge on a nerve? What is the treatment?

Do you have osteopenia or osteoporosis (low bone density)? It could be the sign of a vertebral compression fracture which happens sometimes to people with osteoporosis.
However, if it is sporadic and occurs with movement, this may not be the case. Best course of action is to see your doctor and maybe get an x-ray. I went for three months without treatment for a compression fracture after chalking it up to a pulled muscle in my back. The x-ray clearly showed the fracture (healed by then).
