Cancer patient with swollen feet and hands

Posted by denise96 @denise96, Jan 11 11:12am

My husband who has lung cancer has undergone two treatments of chemoimmunotherapy. He decided that he is not going to take anymore. His last treatment was on Jan 2. He has been vomiting on and off since then, but I think it is slacking off. This morning, he worke up and noticed that his feet are swollen and so are his hands. Has anyone had this problem and do they know why? I will call the doctor on Monday.

This could mean a couple different things. Swelling could indicate heart failure or blood clots. If it's blood clots, a piece of one could break off and travel to the heart, lung, or brain. Any of those could be lethal. If it's heart failure, I don't know what treatment might be but you might want to get comfort measures in place as soon as possible.

Hi. Yes I have been reading up on it and you are right, it could mean many things. It could be a symptom of end stage cancer, it could be from the treatments, or anything. I will be calling the doctor first thing in the morning tomorrow. He just told me that he has a friend getting him some rso oil to try. It may help with the vomiting but I don't think it will help with swollen feet. Will keep you posted.

Well, he took his first this afternoon. It is .05 ml. It comes in a syringe and you just push out the measured amount onto food or into coffee. So, we shall see. So far, so good. He had toast for breakfast, some shrimp, and now he is eating noodles. Hopefully it all stays down. I know that they give people Marinol which has thc in it and it is supposed to help with appetite. My dad had taken it when he was sick, but it did not help him. But he still weighed more than Joe when he died. He did not have cancer but died from heart problems.
