Please describe treatments and outcomes and other relevant information regarding cancer of the nasal vestibule, probably basal cell ca.

Hi @j15 Welcome. Although I have no experience with nasal cancer, likely someone who checks these pages weekly or occasionally will pop in with some advice. We are all patients here and can only help with our own perspectives. Give it some time. In the meantime, if you have a specific question concerning treatments and/or recovery or side effects, this is definitely the place.

Just diagnosed with mucosal melanoma in my nasal sinuses. Had surgery today to remove any other area.
Will start radiation and immunotherapy in 3 weeks. Not sure what questions to ask. All new to me.

@j15, nasal vestibule cancer can be treated with radiation, surgery and/or chemo or a combination of these treatments. Radiation therapy is a main treatment for nasal vestibule cancer.

Have you discussed the treatment options best for you with your cancer team? What treatment will you be having?

@1gnforty1, as you probably already know mucosal melanoma is a rare and aggressive type of cancer that starts in mucosa (mucous membrane). It is common that, by the time it’s diagnosed, mucosal melanoma may have spread (metastasized).

It sounds like your team is being proactive to deal with spread by adding radiation and immunotherapy after surgery.

This can be overwhelming and you might not even know where to start with what questions to ask. Here are some of the things I would want to know more about to help you get started.

- Has the cancer spread beyond the nasal sinuses? If yes, where?
- What part of my body will receive radiation?
- How many treatments?
- What are the common side effects I should prepare for?
- What is the benefit of immunotherapy?
- Which immunotherapy medication will I have?
- What are the common side effects?
- What else do I need to know?

@1gnforty1 how is recovery from surgery going?
