Can you wear a knee sleeve every day?

Posted by cindymattern @cindymattern, Aug 28, 2023

At 11 months I still have soreness and stiffness to where in the mid afternoon my leg/knee really bothers me. However if I wear my knee sleeve I can function like I did prior to surgery. I have no pain, can walk and stand without any issue. My muscles feel great. I am in PT again for strengthening but can I wear this every day. I don't wear it to bed and when It take it off around 6 in the evening my knee/leg area is sore and stiff. I am thinking the extra support helps. Dr. again says the knee looks good and the X-ray shows no fluid or abnormalities.

I use lidocaine patches at night for achiness. Before bed, though, I do the stretches from PT to relax the surrounding muscles and, sometimes, use my microwaveable heat pad. Midday, I do take a Tylenol and use ice or heat and that makes the nighttime a bit better. Another idea is to put your legs up against a wall for about twenty minutes: reduces fluids and is relaxing.

I have tried lidocaine patches and they don't work at all for me. I have used Aleve and Tylenol and have found I have no pain or anything wearing a knee sleeve during the day. It increases blood flow, reduces inflammation and gives compression and doesn't inhibit my motion at all. I've used heat and ice as well. I think I'm just one of those people who will take longer than a year. I sleep amazing at night and wish my knee/leg felt as good as when I wake up lol

Same here!!! Love how they say, it’s all good! The black Tommy copper does not go with white shorts!!! I also have the heavier fabric once too. But I have pain too.

I know!! All is good! I use a brand called RiptGear because when I got the go ahead I needed a 5x (they run smaller so order a size up), started a few weeks ago wearing it daily and went down to a 4x. The top rolls a bit so I emailed them and even after a year they are sending me another 4x as well as a 3x. They have amazing customer service. Gives me just enough compression I can do almost anything wearing it, mow grass, climb stairs, lots of walking but so sore when I take it off in the evening. Hoping I'm a late healer because I'm at 11 months.

I put 1/2 of a larger patch on the most painful spot, and then an ace bandage. Many nights, if I have had a barefoot day, I need an ice pack. But edema massage, stretches and holding legs up against the wall really help, if I do them! Compression socks during the day help during the worst of it. I think the Tylenol gives a bit of central pain relief, but not as good as an NSAID.

Agree....I have to be careful with nsaids but have found I can take an occasional Aleve and it doesn't bother me like Ibuprofen. I try not to be barefoot much because I'm told I need support of a good shoe. I do go barefoot at night though.
