Santa needs new reindeer.
The first bunch has grown old.
Dasher has arthritis;
Comet hates the cold.
Prancer’s sick of staring
at Dancer’s big behind.
Cupid married Blitzen
and Donder lost his mind.
Dancer’s mad at Vixen
for stepping on his toes.
Vixen’s being thrown out—
she laughed at Rudolph’s nose.
If you are a reindeer
we hope you will apply.
There is just one tricky part:
You must know how to fly.

I thought of this post in church this morning -
The pastor's seat on the altar is his walker now,
The choir director was a young Mom when I met her and is now a great grandma,
The lead guitarist had been replaced by his son, his place taken by his son.
The keyboardist now sits when he plays, the trombonist has retired.
The voices in the congregation are a little weaker (except the visiting grandkids)
And the men are grayer (though not most of the women thanks to Lady Clairol)

However the spirit is the same, the smiles are as beautiful, and the hugs are genuine.

Peace on Earth, Good Will toward All.

@sueinmn I appreciate your thoughtful reply! It sounds like you have an amazing congregation full of folks who are aging in place and adapting beautifully and gracefully to change. I think if those are the kind of folks we surround ourselves with too can accommodate to the changes of aging. The point is to live in community with others AND to maintain a sense of humor. Thank you

If you have a Netflix account, jump to the very last episode of the Crown. No one needs wisdom of the prior generations. It is a killer good episode with many meanings about succession, trust, love & ageism.

It was a super quiet Christmas Day here in the Italian part of Switzerland. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse‼️I was alone in a 40 unit building. It was super, just don’t get on the elevator on days like this…with skeleton crews everywhere, no one will come get you out👀. I ran into 3 guys looking for a place to eat. There is Burger King & McDonald’s, no Starbucks allowed of course‼️
