Can Tapping on Yourself Help to Eliminate Pain?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Sep 4, 2019

Browing YouTube, I came upon many videos about tapping meridian points on your face, and some on your chest, and top of your head, to eliminate pain. You literally tap on these points, and say that your pain is not necessary, and the pain goes away. I tried it just a few times so far, and it worked. This really seems to good to be true. Is there any Science behind this? Have any of you tried it? Go to youtube and type in tapping for pain. There are many videos on it. Seems crazy to me, but so far, it has helped. I guess if pain signals come from the brain, and you tell yourself to stop, while tapping, your brain does something else. Too good to be true. How long does it last? Is this crazy? Am I crazy? What do you think? (Don't answer that!!!) Lori Renee

Hi @lorirenee1, There is some science behind it. I ran across a book that goes into detail on how it works -- The Brain’s Way of Healing: Remarkable Discoveries and Recoveries from the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity by Norman Doidge M.D.

Thanks so much, John. I will be going to my library to get this book. The tapping has worked twice for me. Seems crazy, but it has worked.

I have heard of this and believe I tried it back when my chronic migraines began out of desperation. Science provides facts but, believing in something also helps create positive brain power. Thanks for the link to the book John. I'm interested in learning how to strengthen the brain regarding dimentia and alzheimer disease.

Did the tapping help your migraines? There is so much on it on YouTube that it's insane. It seems to be used for any kind of problem. The thought of it seems so idiotic to me. I am gonna look for John's book that he mentioned also. Lori

@lorirenee1 - a few others who may have some thoughts on tapping on yourself to help eliminate pain (in this case, for neuropathy) are @abrunslori @gloriajean @hotfooted @healthytoday @lioness.

Not sure I used proper technique or committed to it at the time. Seems to be along the lines of pressure point. I too am going to look into it further.

Coincidentally my sister in law does this for a living, hypnotherapist, she teaches people how to tap certain points and stating positive thought for whatever your situation is. She worked with me briefly for insomnia. She has grown this practice now and trains others and has speaking engagements as well. I will email you privately with further info. As she is in your state Lori
