Posted by oliver4 @oliver4, Dec 15, 2022

Podiatrist has diagnosed me with minor neuropathy but my balance is worsening. Can neuropathy cause this. I know that input from the feet can cause balance problems

Hi @eirrol -- I've had lymphedema massage many, many times. It was part of my physical therapy treatment after two different breast cancer surgeries. After lymph nodes are removed, you can be left with fluid build up from the lymphatic system not draining properly. Fluid building causes swelling and discomfort. With lymphedema massage, the physical therapist very gently massages skin to push the fluid along through the lymphatic system. I have neuropathy that can make touch very painful, but this was very relaxing it is so gentle. I'd have it every day if I could. A regular massage is excruciatingly painful to me. If you have fluid buildup, you might want to check into lymphedema massage. Your doctor would have to write an order for it. Hope you feel better soon. Lori

Thank you very much for explaining that typ=
e of massage. No, I do not have that fluid build-up. My painful neuropathy ma=
kes anything touching my skin, painful. Now it is an intense belt of heat an=

egan a fierce itching, during the night. The latter was just for one night a=
nd I began to wonder if it was an allergic reaction. But back  to the m=
assage, since I can now gently rub the skin of my back without screaming, I a=
m thinking maybe a gentle massage would help. Also I had a massage once at a=
health spa, many years ago which did not involve touch. I merely felt the ai=
r moving around my back. I honestly did not expect any results from it, but w=

from a sluggish plodding to a brisk walking back to my cottage , at 7,000 f=

Hi There how is everyone holding on? Well my journey is seek and I will find. Some PCP do not have a clue what going with me. So I had to step up to the plate for answers to my health concerns. Finally saw my Neurologist for the nerves test but they didn't find anything so I am back to square 1. Soon I have an appointment with the doctor Friday and to see what else they can do. The weakness are over my body, the constant sweating is make me sick 🤢.

@sheila69wg, I'm sorry to hear your appointment with the neurologist didn't help you find any answers to what is causing your symptoms. Hopefully your upcoming appointment with your primary care doctor will be able to figure out what is causing your symptoms. Mayo Clinic has some information on Excessive Sweating that might be helpful - https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/excessive-sweating/basics/causes/sym-20050780.

Have you thought about seeking help at a teaching hospital or major health facility like Mayo Clinic?

No I haven't. Mayo clinic is in Boston ma right. Where I live is far from Boston. There's so much I need to do in regards to finding a solution but I don't get any incouragement from my providers. Can't wait any longer. Pain and dizziness is out of control. I tried to keep things to myself but I am hurting in silence. The few acquaintances I have are tired of me complaining I suffer in silence I act like its all Good I wish I could cry but I can't because of my eyes problems. All I do is sit and Wait.

Have you seen the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy's website? They have some information that you might find helpful including complementary therapies, information for lifestyle changes that may help and other information to learn more about neuropathy.

I tried a lot of things before I found the Cleveland Clinic study. Everyone either gives you PT or pain meds. I don’t want to live in pain meds and PT helped a little on balance but neither helped me as much as these supplements.

I was wondering what supplements you are talking about. I take Vitamin B12 high dose and complex B vitamins. What else is help?

They recommend taking 400 mg of CoQ10 and 20 mg of PQQ daily. The neuropathy in my hands is completely gone and my feet are much improved. The majority of the pain in my feet is gone, but I still have numbness in some places. I started this a year after chemo. The hands showed improvement quickly, the feet were slower. But the worst of the pain was gone in 3-4 months. Not an overnight cure, but my pain is gone.
