Can long taxi rides affect cancer patients’ health?
Hi,
My relative is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, and we often need to take long-distance taxi rides for medical appointments. We usually travel with https://racarsltd.uk/ for comfort and reliability. However, I’m concerned — can frequent or prolonged taxi rides negatively affect someone with cancer?
Are there any known risks, such as exposure to sitting too long, stress, or car pollution that could worsen their condition?
Thank you for your insights or experiences.
Any medical advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Interesting question, most articles I have seen have to do with airplane travel for patient undergoing cancer treatment. But some of same suggestions can apply.
- Wear a face mask and bring alcohol-based hand-sanitizing gel
- Wear compression socks to improve blood flow and reduce leg swelling during the trip.
- If trip is particularly long and need snake during trip to clinic or back, pack healthy snacks and bring water.
- Even though cannot get up and stretch like could on plane, there are some exercise can do sitting down. I found this PDF with suggestions for simple exercise / stretches when traveling in RV. Same would apply to car travel. https://www.thefitrv.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/The-Passenger-Seat-Workout-Plan.pdf
Hope this helps.
