Can any substance be put in between bones to keep from rubbing togethe

Severe pain inside inner thigh. Doc said arthritis in hip. Don’t want surgery. Is there anything that can be added in between bones to prevent from rubbing together?

Sort of like you, but not so severe... ortho doc says change my activity or expect a hip replacement. Cortisone injections (guided by fluoroscope) can help with the pain, but only last 90 days (for me).

So, I reduced my lifting of heavy things, reduced my 3 day/week walking from 2.5 miles to 1.5 miles and avoid sitting on hard/semi-hard surfaces when possible. Pain is still there, but is reduced.

I don't know of anything other than the cortisone injections, moderating use and pain relievers. I'd love to hear of an alternative less difficult than a hip replacement.

Note - hip replacements have come a long way over the last 20 years and are much easier and quicker both surgery and recovery than they used to be.

I have gotten cortisone shots into my knees which kills the pain for a few months. It comes back! A friend had gel shot into her knees. She says she has no pain now for 5/6 months. Knees are a pain!!

Had cortisone, gel shots hylagen and supratz plus stem cells. Ortho said let’s do a laparoscopic, ok. Had that then year later, TKR. Everything went down hill. That’s over 2 years ago. Not a revision candidate. It’s small amount of med all day. Tried CBD oil. Yuk. I so try to get to the gym. Have tachycardia, not heart meds. Turned my life to poop! Keep icing, elevate and try some of the sleeves for the knee. I see people in the gym trying to avoid surgery.

Thank you for sharing your problems with your hip. I had a hip replacement sixteen years ago and am trying to avoid a revision, though I have not yet seen a doctor about this, and I do not have a lot of pain in my replaced hip, just, under some circumstances, a feeling that it is aging.

Thank you for sharing. I have intense pain and no more cartilage in my shoulders.
Can this substance be applied to the shoulder joints too?
