C diff problem solved
I suffered with what I thought was the results of having C diff 10 months ago. After seeing two doctors and a digestive doctor and trying every method they had suggested I had given up. I recently took a trip overseas. I was scared of what may occur on the airplane and while I was gone with the diarrhea. While I was gone I had no problems what so ever. I was gone 10 days. I began to think when I got home just what was different and could not come up with an answer after eliminating everything possible. While mowing my lawn I had stopped four times with heat over taking me and came in the house and drank excessive amounts of an iced tea mix that I had been drinking this whole time. I had a horrible case of diarrhea the next day. It dawned on me about the Tea, I hadn't drank it on my trip. The tea was a raspberry tea that was sweetened with an artificial sweetener. I stopped drinking it and low and behold I stopped having the diarrhea. The artificial sweetener must have been the culprit. I wanted to share this in case there is someone else who may associate their problem to this.

I have issues with artificial sweeteners, not causing diarrhea, but giving me bladder problems. I am 100% real sugar all the way.

3 Reactions@sanfan and @anniec if the artificial sweetener you took was xylitol, that would explain the diarrhea and bladder problems.
I find artificial sweeteners more sweet (even in reduced amounts) than actual sugar so @anniec, like you, I would rather have 100% sugar.
@rashida The raspberry tea was Crystal light. It has aspartame in it, among other things. I should have read the ingredients before I bought it. I was drinking it everyday! I'm going to be more vigilant from now on.
@sanfan I find it best to stay away from anything labeled “diet”, “sugar free” “lite”, etc. because invariably the ingredients list contains a sugar substitute that is worse than actual sugar. I just look for regular food and drinks with as low a regular sugar content as possible - the lower (under 5g) the better.
