Burning While Urinating
Had 7 proton prostrate treatments and am going through quite a bit of pain burning when urinating. Tried AZO not much help. Will try tonight Flow Max. They thought I had a UTI infection not the case after the culture test came back. They suggested drink lots of water, well that’s great but it also creates huge burning while doing this process. What have you tried that helped to reduce the burning? Ideas appreciated.

@mhordes They need to realize how important it is to stay on time. My appointments were always at either 2:30 or 3:30 each afternoon, allowing me to plan my hydration. And to make sure that I had no excuses, they gave me a temporary handicapped parking placard so that I could park right next to the facility.
I never had to wait more than 2 minutes once I arrived - quite a few times they were right there waiting for me when I walked in.
I had 28 sessions of proton radiation also; @ 2.5 Grays of radiation per session, totaling 70 Grays of radiation. (Similar for you, I suppose.)
??? You tell them that it burns badly while you urinate, so they tell you to drink more water...knowing that more water means more urination = more burning. I hope that was not your physician saying that. That sounds like one of these gloried "nurse aides" (high school grade with 6 months of medical assisting school). My more simple thought is that your urethra has been damaged/sensitized due to the treatment. I suggest an exhaustive search online. Just enter your procedure and "burning while urinating." You're bound to find some info. I have had a few unexpected things happen post-RP surgery, and it didn't take long to find my answers. A couple saw me in the "rarely occurs" category, but...it matched what I was going through. Good luck!
