Buprenorphine Films.

Hello All.
Has anyone taken Buprenorphine Films to treat chronic back pain? I have been taking this medication since 2021, and now my teeth are all rotting. At my most recent visit to the Dentist, my doctor strongly suggested I do a full extraction of the remaining 19 teeth in my mouth. It is that bad. My enamel is eaten away by the acidity in the films. I am scared. And I am only in my early 50s. I am not supposed to be losing my teeth yet, and not like this!

I never thought about this. I have been on the patch now 4 month with success. Now I have to worry about my teeth. šŸ™

I believe evbuicks is taking the film which dissolves in your mouth. Patch is applied to the skin.

I took Subutex strips and then the disintegrating tablets for chronic pain and was never told about the possible side effects. 6 months after I started taking the medication my teeth were literally crumbling out of mouth. I thought that the decades of GERD (especially prior to my fist Nissen fundoplication) had finally taken its toll on my teeth. At the end of last I had to have my ā€œremainingā€ top teeth (at the point there only 7 teeth left) extracted bc of the massive bone infection I had. I was hoping to delay getting a full til extraction bc I wanted to save life for implants but now I’m in dentures and still saving. My bottom teeth are a wreck too but not as bad as the top teeth were but still don’t have many.
I’m so sorry that you’re going through this as well. I’m 41 for reference.

I forgot to add that I went to several dentists, oral surgeons, etc to get a second opinion and they all told me the same thing- that there was no hope saving the teeth and that the sooner I get them out the better bc of the infection. At each dentist/oral surgeon I saw I got a treatment plan that including different types of implants and the cost. I’m now seeing a dentist that’s over an hour away from me but he broke down the treatment plan (into 5 steps) so I could pay for each treatment prior to that step’s ā€œworkā€ and that way I don’t have to pay for all of it up front - which I certainly don’t have. And I still saving now for the step 3 in the plan. If you have any questions please let me know!

Unfortunately this was an unknown side effect of the buccal films and dissolving tabs. I’ve been on the patch for 4-5 years and it works well.
