Bubble only in right ear

Posted by kyro79 @kyro79, 1 day ago

So I recently came back from Japan, on the flight back I was congested and the flight was so delayed I ran out of all my precaution. The take off was fine but the landing was unbearable, I had been sick for maybe three days prior and I was physically holding my head and tearing up as we landed from pain. Getting back I’ve been bed ridden for about a week… still haven’t been to the doctors, 3 days ago my ear starting hurting but only my right ear with it having a feeling of a bubble constantly moving back and forth in it and somewhat easing before almost reforming(only with laying down on my right ear). The pain is so bad that when my medication wears off I immediately wake up in pain. There’s been blood from my ear as well, significant loss of hearing from only my right ear, jaw pain, I get light headed when I stand up (I’m now considering as I look into more and more symptoms that they’re unrelated) though I have no ringing in my ears. At what point should I go to the doctors and would I be able to get time off work for this?

kyro79, Please go to an ENT doctor and get this checked out. I wonder if you have a ruptured ear drum since blood is running out. Eardrums heal quickly, but usually antibiotic is needed.

Perhaps you can take something like Sudafed the next time you fly as it allows pressure to equalize better in the
ears.

I am so sorry you have this. It's got to be miserable. Praying for you.

Go to urgent care and also call your GP to be seen today for an appt and get an ENT referral if urgent care or GP agrees. It could be a burst eardrum or serious infection. Yes, from what you report this is a condition that will get you a medical excuse from work. Seek immediate medical attention.
