Broken pinky bone

Posted by drt @drt, Jan 29, 2023

I think I may have broken the bone in the tip of my pinky finger. My husband tells me that nothing can be done for it and I just need to wait for it to heal on its own. I don’t want to waste time and resources on it if he is right. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Looking for advice.

@drt Time to see a HAND doctor. If the fracture is complete, you can end up with a deformed finger. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but mine sticks out at an odd angle, catches on everything, and makes putting on gloves or doing intricate needlework a huge hassle. I wish I would have seen a doc right away!
In the mean time, splint it straight with tape & a stick (drugstore splints are too loose to hold a pinky firmly)

Get to a HAND doctor asap. It can & needs to be repaired!

After breaking each finger first joint several times I've resolved to splitting them till the healing is done first joint, tip healing will not cause deformities as long as it's not a crush.
