Can I take a break between different antiestrogen treatments?

I am supposed to switch from tamoxifen to an AI after 2 years. How long can I take a break? Any chance of recurrence if break is too long?

@beatthebeast, that's a good question to ask and to also discuss with your oncologist. They know your medical history and your personal risk factors, and are able to give you an answer specific to you. Taking a med "holiday" from AIs is something that some women do. What AI will you be switching to?

Hi I am not taking a holiday but switching from tamoxifen to anastrazole and there should be a wash out period before starting the new drug. My onc said a break up to 4 weeks is on. But I would like to know what others have heard.
