Bra Problems!

Posted by ainsleigh @ainsleigh, Mar 30, 2021

Sorry that this is so trivial compared to the man serious issues on Connect but I suspect there might be many of us who share bra issues. I cannot find a bra that is comfortable and would be so appreciative for any suggestions. (I am 81 and very frustrated).
Thanks,
Ainsleigh

@ainsleigh I would wager that you're not the only one who has this issue, no matter our age! I remember when a teenager, my mother took me to JC Penney for my first bra fitting. Not too many years ago, my sister who live in Washington State went to an upscale store who offered bra-fitting consultations. Can you search around your area to see if there are any fine lingerie shops, or large department stores who offer this service? I have worn the same size for decades, but bet if there was a professional consult, it might be different! Please come back and let me know what you find out, will you?

I agree with Ginger, @gingerw, it might be a good idea to have a professional bra fitting. In my 50s I loss lot of weight and went shopping for new bras. I remember taking many bras into dressing room and not finding one that worked. I then went to Soma in Rochester for a bra fitting. The lady recommended different styles and found a style / size that fit right. After bra fitting the bra fit so much better, more support and no bulges. After breast surgery I went back and had a refitting. Many stores provide bra fitting service. The bra was more expensive, but worth it to have a good fitting bra.

@ainsleigh- Good morning. This isn't a silly question at all. I get this. There are two stores that I trust for this. One is Victoria's Secret and Barenessecities. If you are interested you can get online and chat with someone.

https://www.barenecessities.com/

If you can get out these stores also have wonderful pj's and nighties.

Hello @ainsleigh,

I agree with all of the others who have posted that this is not a trivial question at all. For those of us who wear these garments a good fitting bra is very important. I think it especially important if you have had any surgeries in the area where the bra lies near your skin. I've had two invasive surgeries where an incision was made from the breast bone down to the navel. Because of scar tissue, I always need a bigger bra in order to wear it comfortably.

I've not had a bra fitting in a number of years, so this is a good reminder to me.

@ainsleigh I agree with the other, find a good store that has fitting experts. I had to do that, I'm sort of a weird size, large band, small cup, and I found a store that really helped me.

@merpreb Does Bare Necessities have actual stores or are they just online?
