Bra options for support, yet not constrictive

Posted by vmcd @vmcd, Feb 7 10:18am

Since suffering from 12 compression fractures in 9 months time and having had spine surgery in 2023 I’ve yet to find a bra that supports without causing discomfort &/or pain. What’s available? I’ve asked a few doctors, physical therapists and nurses but no one has given an answer that has worked out…I’ve tried going a size up, sports bras, etc. the larger sized bras’ cups are too big. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I was interested in that question as well. You might look at the website for wacoal bras. You might arrange for a free online consultation. I recently bought 2 t shirt bras which provide support without a wire as I have scoliosis and osteopenia. Depending on the style, sizes can vary.

After I broke my shoulder I gave up bras all together. I wasn't sure I could get good support. Here is what I use now and it is very comfortable and offers sufficient support without the construction or pain of under wires.
Bali model DF3491 it is a stretchy 1 piece camisole.

My Wacoal bra (sorry don't have more info about the model #) is the most comfortable bra I've ever owned. Not an underwire.

I have severe osteoporosis and worry daily about compression fractures. Would you be comfortable explaining how you got so many fractures in such a short period of time? Was it from a fall, lifting something or wrong movement? Thank you.

PS: I have psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis and had extensive spinal surgery 18 months ago to correct scoliosis. That’s when I started using the Jockey bra. I’m 73 years old.

My previous comment didn’t post. I use Jockey seamless bra. No underwire or hooks. It’s less expensive than Wacoal. I Had extensive spinal surgery 18 months ago and developed a compression fracture afterwards. Your situation sounds terribly painful.
