Boric Acid Suppositories - Frequent Infections

Posted by januaryjane @januaryjane, Jul 14, 2023

Have been getting frequent infections. Saw a new Dr and prescribed boric acid suppositories to help. Also, a hormone cream. She said all the way around my opening was irrited and causing the infections. I have just started treatment and wondering if anyone else has had experience with boric acid suppositories. I'm on a diet to limit yeast and sugar. Anyone else have frequent infections not caused by sexual activity/std??

It’s not an infection per se but I have been fighting BV (bacterial vaginosis) since I had prolapse surgery in April. Doc keeps prescribing Flagyl but it doesn’t work. I have read that Fluomizin is a better antibiotic than Flagl for my particular bacteria but primary care NP not willing to look into it and says go to gynecologist. My gynecologist just gives me Flagyl too. I have read that boric acid is used for BV. I am going to a new gynecologist in late August…never had this issue until after surgery…so annoying!

I use the suppositories periodically. I get a fishy smell and I use it then. I’ve been to my GYN numerous times and negative for BV or other issues and haven’t had sex in 10+ years. I do take several medications to combat Lupus and other ailments. It’s very frustrating
