Bones/muscle swelling

Posted by jadillow @jadillow, Feb 17, 2019

Is it possible when muscles or cartilage becomes inflamed it feels swollen to you? I have had a pain below both collarbone in the rib areas close to sternum on each side. Slight but not very tender to the touch but ribs feel very noticeable when touching like they are out more than other. Thanks. You guys are always awesome here !!

Hi, @jadillow - the pain in the rib area, close to the sternum, sounds uncomfortable. I'd like to invite a few members to interact with you about this pain you are having and your question, like @mbcube @dawn_giacabazi @johnbishop @lioness @summertime4.

You are saying that the ribs are physically misaligned, @jadillow? Have you had the chance to ask your doctor about these symptoms? If so, what did he or she say?

Hi @jadillow, I did a quick search and found some information that may be helpful about inflammation and cartilage that sounds a little like the symptoms you are describing. I agree with @lisalucier about discussing it with your doctor if you have not already done that.

Hi @jadillow we emeet again!! As we discussed in multiple other topics, I highly recommend a second opinion and hope you will consider the experience and expertise of Mayo Clinic. It sounds like you are having complex issues that mimic many conditions and I completely understand urgency and fear in not knowing the diagnosis.
