bone markers
With a low baseline CTX would an antiresorptive be contraindicated?
Does the pharmaceutical choice determine the frequency of bone marker testing? Mayblin?

Nice! In this case your endo may have ordered BSAP as one of the diagnostic tests. S/he might also use both BSAP and P1NP to monitor your therapy progress. If you get a chance to ask the benefits of monitoring both bone formation markers, or the advantage monitoring one marker over the other, please share with us.
Tymlos is a great bone builder as you might’ve read many testimonials. Wish you a great success as well!

1 ReactionThanks! I’m glad I have finally made the decision. I appreciate all the information I’ve gathered on this site with so many knowledgeable people helping me navigate and feel confident about my decision.
I will ask my Dr. about the 2 types of similar bone markers and why he ordered both etc. My Tymlos arrives next week. I assume it will come with instructions. Anything you think I should know?

I’m sure your endo did a battery of labs and diagnostics. Make sure 24hr urine calcium is included as we wouldn’t want preexisting hypercalciuria in the mix. Tymlos/forteo tend to raise blood calcium level which sometimes requires intake adjustments. Usually docs repeat a blood calcium level 1-3 month into therapy. Best to keep an eye on VitD level also so you could adjust your intake accordingly.
