Blood platelets abnormal, but need back surgery

up to may 2024 my blood tests showed blood platelets were normal 512 i have back issues so started taking gabampton in nov and went for blood tests in dec 16 blood platelets. t were 442 . due to pain i doubled my gabampton dosage i had to take new pre tests for jan 6 back surgery and blood plates were 417. read gabampton reduces platets . do i have auto imune disease cancer or caused by drug

also i need to see blood dr so i can get approved for surgery as in bad siatia need surgery jan 28

as said ie earlier oist i need back surgery in pain my will not approve until i see hemotologist and he will have to approve in a mth my platelets went from 442 t0 417 hope i can do urgent surgery with this hopping the gabapentin i am taking is causing this. i am now flipping need surgery as siattica makes me a cripple

A quick check with AI Google says that yes, it's possible that gabapentin can cause low blood platelets.

Please talk to your doctor about this! Only she or he can decide whether the benefits of gabapentin outweigh its possible side effects in your case.

@hondaman Platelets are necessary for blood clotting. Surgery will make you bleed, so your doctors are right in trying to solve this before you have surgery. Did you discuss gabapentin with them? Is there an alternative to this prescription? Your doctors need to figure out how to increase your platelet count.
