Blocked ear and tinnitus

Posted by dhastings @dhastings, Nov 5 5:42am

I have been getting pretty regular ear infections, usually always the right ear. This ear also goes in and out of feeling blocked when theres no active infection. I have also developed tinnitus (I think in both ears) which has been constant for the past 3(ish) weeks, and I have been getting brief dizzy spells where it will suddenly feel as if the room is spinning and then go away.
I have seen my GP and I am awaiting an ENT referral but just seeing if anyone has an experience with something like this? I have also started to develop pain/soreness where my ears meet my head, and some headaches which feels like my head is in a vice, specifically around my ears.

Any advice would be amazing!

Sounds like Menieres disease (spelling?), ear pain, vertigo, diziness and tinnitus are symptoms. Is the tinnitus pulsing (like with the beat of your heart)? If so, that can be more serious, and you'd need to get a scan of your head, neck and cardiac region to check for stenosis. There was a drug for this (major European manufacturer), trade name Serc, but they made claims that it helped reduce tinnitus (which it didn't) along with vertigo. Don't know if it worked for vertigo, but anyway the FDA banned it entirely from US pharmacies. Still available in other countries. Didn't work for my tinnitus (I don't have vertigo). Hope this is helpful.
