Bladder cancer starting symptoms
Hi,
I am 55 year old female. I had a big stone of 25 mm ,Recently I got UTI and that become worse with lot of puss and minor blood. I admitted to the hospital because oral antibiotics were not working. Doctor did cystoscopy and it was found that my bladder and kideny were full of wound. I was in pain and this burning sensation was unbearable. CT scan was done to ruled out bladder cancer. However i am not sure.
I was treated with IV antibiotics as well as they wash out all pus with antiseptic solution i guess. I feel better after few days and afterwards, Doctor did surgery to remove kideny stone. They did test urine culture and blood report , Both were normal. I was discharged after 5 day of surgery. However as i went to home and start my oral medicine .after 3 days My symptoms came back, And this time they were even worse. Burning sensation, frequent urination ( immediately after drinking the water) and total discomfort. I had no fever recently but there was fever after surgery for few days.
i am confused why i am not feeling better even though they are treating my UTI, Is there a possibility of bladder cancer,TB etc,,should i change my doctor?? Can any one share similar experience.? i will appreciate your time ,It might help me.
Thank you

Hello @shoaib1990. What a miserable experience. I would think that cytology exams of urine would have been done in the hospital looking for cancer cells. Sometimes these results are missed, though, as happened to my husband. His initial symptoms were only a trace of blood occasionally in the urine....no pain or urgency. And he had a very aggressive cancer. I have a friend who gets severe UTIs that require IV treatment in the hospital. Oral antibiotics just do not help her. You can ask your doctor if cytology was done to look for cancer. Any urine sample can have this done. Ask about further antibiotic treatment. If the culture was negative then they are still guessing on which antibiotic to use.
Thank you, Sue. I am in the hospital. They did an antibiotic sensitivity test, They were able to identify a few antibiotics that were sensitive to the bacteria. based on those test results they are treating my UTI with a combination of IV and oral antibiotics(Nitrofurantoin capsule (++++) and Meropenem through IV(++),+ sign reflecting sensitivity), However, my condition is not improving, It decreased my pus but that burning sensation and pain are still there mostly in the bladder. Docs are saying because it is severe, healing will take time. But I am not feeling any relief, it has been more than 3 days. I will ask them for a cytology examination if they can. Thank you for your suggestions.
I seem to remember an old medication that helped the symptoms in the bladder, but
i don't remember the name. It was just temporary relief from the pain and burning. Another thing to ask your doctors?
