Biopsies during Endoscopy

Posted by myladybug52 @myladybug52, Jan 8 10:12am

I recently had an endoscopy, and there were multiple biopsies done of all three: esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. I had the exam done due to left upper quadrant pain. There were ulcers found in the stomach. There was an irregularity in the squamous-columnar junction, localized continuous irregularity of the mucosa.

This all sounds kind of scary to me! Any comments? Thank you.

Hello, I had an Endoscopy & Colonoscopy on 01/07/26 and it said they did biopsies from the Endoscopy. I have yet to hear from the GI Dr. who ordered those test. I had no complaints of abdomen pain or discomfort, my issue is anemia related. More info to follow.

I was told it takes two weeks for results. It’s so frustrating to wait though.

I told you I would have more info, I got my results back yesterday from the biopsies taken during the endoscopy. As far as I can tell the results are negative for H-Pylori, but I will learn more after my follow up with the GI Dr.

I’m so glad it isn’t H-pylori but I hope they have answers for you.

Biopsies are done standard during these tests if they see any polyps. I just had a colonoscopy and upper Endo. They usually always have a biopsy done during one of these with me and they always come back negative so far. The diagnosis is far more vital that the polyps at this time. Polyps are usually benign and standard procedural work to test them unless you feel something else may come up in them.
Otherwise don't fear the biopsy unless that's what you were specifically asked to come in and get done.
