bilateral endvasculat abdominal aneurysm repair -Veteran Admin Health
And at the two week followup after surgery (May28th), eGFR dropped from normal (Was 82) to 50., creatinine from 1.0 to 1.5 My BUN went from Normal (13) to 26.
This problem was not addressed at the time, although tests were repeated that day.
- 6 month later (Nov23rd), a primary care lab revealed my eGFR declined to 42.4, creatinine at 1.7, microalbumin random 249 creatinine urine 101 mg/dL BUN 28
-My primary care is community care, contracted out by the va to Sentara. OF course, this was alarming and these tests were repeated by my primary care and the result confirmed Kidney injury and even silghtly worsening results: eGFR 39.7, creatine 1.8 and BUN 27. My PCP ordered an ultrasound retroperitonaeal which were normal.
My Sentara PCP made a referral to the VA for nephrology. The VA conducted workup for that on Jan23rd was eGFR 38.7. enzymatic creatinie (attelica) at 1.65 and BUN at 28.
I am currently waiting for the VA to act on scheduling a consult with nephrology.
I am very concerned

Getting back test results that you are not expecting is understandably frustrating and of concern. How long do you think you will need to wait to get that referral to nephrology? We are not medical personnel here, and your test results are best interpreted by a doctor. Why are they saying "kidney injury"?

Quoting NIH: "Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a well-known complication that can occur after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). EVAR is a procedure used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs)."
my EVAR damaged my kidney function, at the 2 week followup after the procedure, eGFR declined more than 30, creatinine level increased 50%. I wonder if the VA not acting on that eGFR decline/creatinine increase would be normal.
It is now Feb 8th, my community care physician put the refferal in to the VA on Dec 23. Hopefully it will be soon. The VA sometimes move slowly. I am here to get some input o what actions I should take, how serious my condition is, it is alarming to me
