Big toe issue

Posted by d096819 @d096819, 1 day ago

Had spinal fusion on L3/L4 and L4/L5 in January. After 3 months I noticed that when I moved my back a certain way I would get this weird sensation in my big toe. My doctor doesn't think there is a connection but I googled and found that the L5 nerve can affect the big toe. Has anyone ever experienced this

Yes, I have and it can definitely affect the toe(s)! Were you checked to see if you have scar tissue formation in that area? That happened to me after my lumbar surgery, even though I followed all directions to try to avoid it. It should be a clue that movement causes your big toe to get that sensation. How would you describe that sensation?

In the past, I've had sciatica down my entire leg to my feet. I also get a numb left toe on occasion while standing, and when I lay down or sit in my car, my toes and feet tingle and get numb. I have mild scoliosis, loss of lordosis, spinal stenosis, thickening of the ligamentum flavum, and disc herniations.
