‘Big Guns’ - Triple Therapy with Double Chemo - How to prepare?
About to start treatment for what our medical team feels is a ‘sneaky’ metastasis due to low PSA + lung mets only situation. PSA 0.36 with 3 lung nodules about 1 cm each. We were hoping to start with something less, but trust the team. A little afraid, so looking for experiences with this combo or close to it: ADT (3 mos injections, likely Eligard), plus either Nubeqa or Abiraterone, plus Chemo of taxotere + carboplatinum X 6 sessions. This feels like a lot and probably is. He has had no treatment since prostatectomy 17 years ago, so it’s likely he is not yet castrate resistant… How to prepare? Hub has lost weight in the last 6 mos so hoping to beef up the diet with less animal/no sugar, but what can we expect?

SO helpful - We are looking into the iceing procedure - hair loss isan't a concern, but neuropathy is. Good to know about antiemetics. My hub is in pretty good shape - long time cyclist and athlete, but not much resistance work, which he will start. He has lost weight the last year and has a hip desperate for replacement, so that is put off now, and bummer because it really limits. He is big time into golf now - from windsurfing and telemark skiiing in his youth, so loss of stamina has a wide impact. Curious if the pluvicto was considered prior to chemo - but maybe not because that has just been approved. We still are investigating that, but it wasn't offered yet by our Mayo team. Its really helpful to hear your experience, so thank you again for replying.
I did get side effects from the radiation to the primary cancer in my prostate, which I had a few months later. They didn't emerge until a year after the therapy, and are annoying, but nothing that would have changed my decision if I'd known for sure in advance that I'd get them. That radiation was much stronger: 60 gy (vs 20). I had already talked with my oncology team and told them I wanted to treat the cancer aggressively, and they'd agreed to "throw the kitchen sink at it" — the radiation I got to my prostate was a so-called "curative" dose (even though my cancer isn't believed to be curable).
You are correct. I had to have the chemotherapy before the Pluvicto. I too have a surgery that was postponed due to the cancer treatment. Right rotator cuff was scheduled and I then had to cancel it. Good luck 🙏
