BHRT and HRT

Posted by gargoy @gargoy, Jan 30 11:49am

I went to my endocrinologist for the first time this week. He told me that bioidentical hormone does not exist. I got the transdermal patch, estradiol. Then, I got a consult when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up and the pharmacist said he had never heard of bioidentical hormones for hormone replacement !!! !!! !!! I asked if what I was picking up was estradiol, and he said yes it was. Everyone's talking about bioidentical hormones, for hormone replacement, but my doc and the pharmacist say it does not exist. Can anyone shed light on this? What I got was the Vivelle patch. That may be the wrong spelling.

Someone please speak up about this ! I heard that maybe BHRT has to be made by a formulating pharmacy- is that true ?

Mine is considered BHRT and is made by a compounding pharmacy.
I use creams for estradiol, estriol, and progesterone.
