Anyone have pain after BCG Treatments, especially with urination?

I’m receiving BCG treatment for a bladder cancer. I’m on my fourth week. Has anyone had pain after the treatment I have and it’s severe when I have to go to the bathroom please let me know.

I have had 6 injections of the BCG . Dr. Prescribe numbing cream I get at pharmacy I can't say I have had any pain other than pressure when voiding and very little bleeding.

I've experienced increasing pain with each treatment. I've just finished my 5th of a 6 treatment routine. The 4th was very painful, the 5th was nearly debilitating. After the 4th I asked the urologist for a script for pain meds. He refused saying just use the Uribel and tylenol, which barely puts a dent into pain reduction. I also tried pyridium and it seemed less effective than Uribel. Docs are so afraid to prescribe pain meds it seems. He says his other bcg patients don't have the problem but searching on line shows him to be wrong. Some even reported pain even a year or more after their last treatment. I wonder if Tylenol w/ codine might help and be acceptable?

I so agree with you, my 4th 5th treatment with BCG was painful the 6th treatment I was screaming. The pain was severe and it was that way for seven days. My doctor told me to take azo, which did nothing I do understand. I told my doctor I couldn’t take that treatment again not with that kind of pain. I do not understand why they will not prescribe you something and I looked up BCG treatment side effects. I looked it up on legit medical websites, and people have had pain with it.

I hope you talk to your urologist/surgeon about this. I had no pain after BCG therapy. I know it's different for everyone, but your circumstances sound difficult and it's your doctor's duty to listen and help.

I finished my 6 BCG treatments 2 weeks age. I had pain urinating for about 3-4 days after each treatment. I took Phenazopyridine each day which did help with the pain. You can this as a prescription. Or you can get this OTC. Most drug stores carry it, I got mine at Walmart,

I just completed my first BCG treatment yesterday and did not have any side effects. I got a reduced 1/2 dose, same volume but less concentrated as there is a shortage currently but Dr said the 1/2 doses were just as effective. It was A bit sore to pee first time but other than that no issues. Hoping the next few will be similar with no major issues.
