Anyone have pain after BCG Treatments, especially with urination?

Posted by tgsmith @tgsmith, May 1 1:13pm

I’m receiving BCG treatment for a bladder cancer. I’m on my fourth week. Has anyone had pain after the treatment I have and it’s severe when I have to go to the bathroom please let me know.

Although I did not have pain after BCG, I did have excruciating pain for some days after my first BC surgery. I researched (using AI) before second surgery and asked Urologist to consider prescribing both the Phenazopyridine and Oxybutynin. He did and only had minor discomfort after the surgery. Second time around seemed much easier but next week must have third surgery followed by Adstiladrin treatments.

My doctor stated he would only give me phenazopyridne, I’m in Mississippi and I think they do not want to prescribe pain meds, that is wrong when someone has cancer and they are in pain from the treatment

I'm thinking they fear cansure by authirities or loss of license. This is very disheartening.

Please don't take this question to be a sexist issue. I'd just like to figure out what's going on with my BCG pain. So, I wonder, could it be that women have less pain from BCG just because their unitary tract is not as long and doesn't have the prostate along the way? When my doctor said his other BCG patients haven't reported the same pain I have had, could gender have an influence?
