Has anyone ever heard of prednisone helping behavioral problems with kids with autism?

It could help those that have the type of autism that also has high inflammation in the brain. But a side effect is possible diabetes (which I have seen without a family history.)
One way to tell if somebody with autism has the brain inflammation is if a lot of the meltdowns and behavioral issues and such calm down during a fever. During a fever the brain is flooded with anti-inflammation something that goes away when the fever goes away. I don't have linx handy but I'm sure you could look it up
My son had amazing response to steriods but it messed with his blood sugars shot to 600 and became unconscious plus liver issues and blood pressure. So we switched to ivig . He has an encephalopathy called ESES epilepsy. That causes altered mental status and is responsive to steriods or immunomodulators. All of his outbursts and Irritability just stopped. New child completely!!!
I believe it. Very interesting. They need to do studies on this! I knew someone with dementia symptoms and when they were on steroids for something else they were a different person. I wish Doctors paid attention to these things.
I definitely know they use steroids to get someone out of status seizures. So there is a connection between steriods and neuroinflammation. I just don’t know much about plain autism with no seizures and steroids.
Definitely curious though.
Steroids does have its adverse effects for sure though. So they are always weighing that too. My son needed regular monthly high dose Iv steriods lasting hours in a bed or infusion chair with lots of vitals taken etc and many people with autism would struggle with that in itself.
