At Mayo Clinic, do pathologists always check IDC, report it if found?

Posted by benzo @benzo, 2 days ago

I got back biopsy report show "large cribriform" but not others, like IDC (Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P)). Since "large cribriform" has strong connection with IDC, I am wondering if the IDC is not omitted in the report or not checked at all at Mayo.

Anyone has knowledge on this?
Thanks

@benzo, this is a question best asked on your Mayo patient portal account. It may not be the same for everyone. Do you have the patient portal set up?

My post surgery report just started "cribriform: present"

It is possible to have large cribriform Without intraductal. I am pretty sure they would’ve included it if it had been found.

@colleenyoung yes, I sent a message already. But the person is out of office

No - they do not always come together at all.
I am pretty sure that Mayo has very good pathology lab .

My post surgery said cribriform: present, but no IDC identified. Which they had said how large the cribriform was, just said present. I may still get that answer, going to get appointment soon with pathologist.
Sometimes wonder if I shouldn't get prostate sent to a place like mayo for testing, doubt Medicare would pay for that second opinion.
