Anyone goin through Astrocytoma/Glioma of the spinal?

Posted by tommiewayne @tommiewayne, Feb 27, 2023

I was diagnosed with Astrocytoma/Glioma cancer located between the C3-C6 of my neck, had surgery, radiation, chemo. I have lost the feeling in 60% of my body (numbness). Is there anybody going through this that I can talk to? Just looking for some feedback on what to expect.

Hello @tommiewayne and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I can imagine how concerning this is for you, so it is great to reach out to connect with others.

Members such as cordtney0714 and @markelia have both shared about their, or their family member's, journey with astrocytoma and some experience with numbness. I am hoping they will be able to come back to share more with you.

Have you been told that the numbness is a result of the chemo and radiation? Where is the numbness mainly?

The numbness started months before I was diagnosed, found a mass in the C3-C6 in and around my spinal cord. I've now have numbness about 65% with tingling in my body. Just curious about what more to expect. Thank you.
