AS for LR PCa hits 93% for VA patients

Just out today…August 14, 2026….

A recent study found active surveillance use for low-risk prostate cancer rose from 27% to 93% among veterans from 2005 to 2024.

Favorable intermediate-risk AS rose to 61%, including substantial gains in PSA <10 with limited Grade Group 2 cores and PSA 10–20 with Grade Group 1.

AS programs and protocols vary considerably among physicians and patients, so this army of newly diagnosed PCa men will need to educate themselves as to what questions and protocols they will implement and are willing to stay with, once they sign up for AS.
