Has anyone developed heart issues after taking anastrozle, letrozole or emestane (I was not able to tolerate any of the 3 due to side effects)? I am in the process of having preventive ovaries removal and my pre-op EKG showed some abnormal findings. My last EKG in 2024 was normal. I cancelled surgery for now as I need to know if my heart is healthy before I go under anesthesia.

I have been on anastrozole for 4 1/2 years. And have fought to stay on it because of side effects just recently I learned I had SVT episodes short burst of rapid heartbeats I have wondered about the low levels of estrogen, which can cause issues with heart palpitations-may be causing my issues me. My cardiologist is exploring this idea. Who’s to know but it is unnerving.

3 ReactionsThank you for sharing. I'll be having an echocardiogram mid-march. Until then I most likely will not start Tamoxifen as my oncologist has suggested. I'll have several questions for her so I can make the right decision.

I’m sorry to hear you are having these issues. Don’t rule out the possibility that your Anastrazole manufacturer was changed by the pharmacist. I documented my struggles with racing heart/ palpitations in this group and it was due to a brand switch. Not sure how,to,tell you to search for that past info but my posting name is exk and it was back in February 2024. Good luck and hope you find a solution.
