Are any of you making life changes due to tumors? Hair coloring? etc?
At age 66 I am recently diagnosed with a 4.2 cm meningioma and 2 cm vestibular schwannoma. I am seeing the team at Mayo and will wait 3 months and do a followup scan to see if there are any changes. Surgery is likely for the meningioma. I agree with others this news is stunning to receive and while I am waiting I wonder if I should make any life changes. For example is it safe to continue to dye hair roots? Is it safe to get a Brazilian blowout to straighten hair? Is it safe to use a laser hair removal system on the face? All these apply harsh things to the head and I wonder if they can contribute to tumor growth? Is there any research? Thank you for any input. I have already appreciated and learned from your comments shared.

the one thing i am doing is totally self -intiated. I have read that many people w M’s have high bmi. Mine is normal but could be lower. i’m trying to lose 8-10 pounds to see if that helps mimimize the growth of my tiny long term (found in 2018) meningioma—i also try to meditate and pray more
I had my first meningioma when I was 51 and my hair color was pretty much what I grew up with, but was not happy with! About a year in, I asked my NS if I could use hair color and he felt it was fine-so I did. Now, 22 years and about 5 tumors in, I was diagnosed with a GBM 4. I truly don’t believe it to be related to hair color, but I have been advised by the APN to wait at least 90 days before putting chemicals on my hair. In 90 days, I may not have any hair to color as I. At be wearing an Optune device!
I’m similar to elisabeth007. I’ve been working out pretty hard. Trying to put muscle mass on and reduce fat. Trying to eat healthier. Avoid sugar and less breads/carbs. Trying to prepare my body for surgery so (hopefully) recovery and outcome is better.
