Appointment Process: How can I request an appointment at Mayo?

Posted by wwgd1 @wwgd1, May 26, 2022

Could anyone direct me on how to sign up for an appointment in person at Mayo clinic with a doctor? When I was a baby my parents found out there was black mold in my room due to everyone getting sick and the amount of rain we were getting at the time. I almost died and was hospitalized for a while, the doctors/specialists told my parents the effects from the mold I endured would shorten my life span by 10 years and cause possible health issues later on in life- mainly neurologically. After that I was fine, bring a kid for once. Laughing with my friends, swimming, fishing. And then shortly I started getting headaches, abdominal pain and nausea/vomiting and brain fog.. I started having migraines when I wasn’t 11, then when I started throwing up I lost weight, over 40 lbs. My mother took me to my PCP and she sent me to the best neuro in the state- she noticed I had GI issues and sent me to a gi doc, she also gave me medicine for my migraines due to how severe they were especially for my age. In 2018 my nervous system attacked my body, my Neurootalgist (the same one as before) “, had a bed ready at Childrens Hospital in STL MO. I was a 17ish year old in a wheel chair unable to work, walk, talk, move, I wasn’t there mentallly- brain fog has been severe sense my fall may 18,2022. I haven’t broken or fractured anything but I do believe with how much physical trauma my head has endured- my ex hitting me, falling down and hitting my head on anything close due to vertigo, and the fall down 6 steps into concrete. My father and mother had me move states to find better doctors and to get away from my ex. In 2017 around February I believe, was the last time I truly worked. I have tried little side jobs with knowledge I’ve learned- sometimes my thought process gets so severe I can’t drive, walk, think, even get light headed. I have pictures from my medical records when I was younger, I’m in the process of getting the rest- I have many specialists and no one has been able to help me.. my boyfriends aunt told me about the Mayo Clinic after she saw everything that I go through at the age of 23, and it’s continued to go on because my test results come back fine is what I’m told. I’ve also has doctors say I need better professional help but they weren’t sure where to direct me. I’m completely post. I haven’t drove sense March 10, 2022. It’s now May 26, 2022. This has been going on for over 10 years with no answers..only pills thrown at me and guesses being made.. I think I may believe I know what’s wrong or could point someone in the right direction with the knowledge of a neuroscientist. Sometimes I have issues speaking correctly, after the fall I haven’t been the same in the head, my speech is off(more slurred), back hurt, knees down tingle/weak, eyes are heavy can’t sleep. I’ve been diagnosed with very serious conditions and need some advice/help…. I do have medical records from docs, even test results, X ray pictures of ribs, etc! Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listening to me. God bless.

Few options for Mayo appointments:
1. Start process yourself - see following web site: https://www.mayoclinic.org/appointments

2. Have your doctor refer you to Mayo. I am not sure how that process works. Ask your doctor if they can refer you to Mayo.

3. In addition, you can try a clinic that is part of Mayo Clinic Heath Care Network.

You should also contact your insurance company to see if Mayo appointments are covered. During the process to request an appointment, you will be asked about insurance.
