appetite and digestion after completing antibiotics

Hi there. Just had my 3rd episode of acute diverticulitis although it was listed as focal colitis on my papers whereas in December it was acute diverticulitis. This time 2 days after V-Day I was sick with nausea, chills, feeling very unwell. Went to my Dr on Presidents day and CT scan showed inflammation/infection. He put on Ceftin and Flagyl 10 days. I was extended to 14 days but then was told to stop (different Dr) before completing. Here I am one week and 3 days later still no appetite, no nausea but feeling still not great. My question is will my appetite return and should I worry if Im not eating like i should be or gaining weight? Thanks 🙂 No follow up currently but scheduled to see GI Dr in a month.

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better.
Antibiotics are a must for diverticulitis/inflation. But, strips all the good bacteria too. I used to hate that from my past episodes. Felt like staring over every time!
I would not add too much fiber back in your diet until you see you GI Dr. Have you had a colonoscopy?
Try having an avocado has an experiment.
How was your inflammation level in blood work? That is a great marker to go by.

Where did they see this on scan? "Went to my Dr on Presidents day and CT scan showed inflammation/infection"

Another thought about antibiotics. I also have had to take Cipro and amoxicillin clav in Feb and March. I did blood work March 20, yesterday, and my creatinine levels were thru the roof. I've always had good levels over the years when I get blood workup every 6 months until now right after I took these two antibiotics. Has anyone had the same experience?

No, and that is a level they need to check.

So sorry to hear this :(( Cipro is just horrible and Im sorry you have had to take it so many times. My husband was thinking of getting dental implants but Im not sure if he will get them. Im on antibiotics again for 10 days but this time its not for diverticulitis infection but Lyme disease. Ticks are just terrible in my area.
