Appendix Cancer - pre transplant clearance
I got a weird message from a surgeon that the only way to know if I have appendix cancer is to surgically remove it and test it. So she wants to remove my appendix.
No symptoms.
PET/Scan did not find anything
But she is adamant.

When I had my first kid she was born by C section. The surgeon casually said he would remove my appendix at the same time. I asked “Isn’t it good for something?” He replied “yes a payment on my boat if it gets infected and I have to remove it later!” So I agreed to it then. I guess I got a “2 for the price of one deal” the C section / baby and got rid of an un-needed appendix. I never heard of appendix cancer but I would say get rid of it before it causes a problem especially if it is preventing a needed kidney transplant! Hope you make the right decision and have peace about it.
I'm assuming that she does not want to take the chance of a post-operative infection, however why not just remove it when doing the transplant rather than exposing you to an added anesthesia event.
Why try to fix something when there is no evidence that it is broken?
There are so many body parts which mat get infection during transplant - we will then need to remove ALL those body parts.
