I tested positive for gluten-intolerance via a blood test. However, I never had an endoscopy in which the gastro doc examines the villi of the intestine. I started last winter with tingling and almost electrical sensations in my extremities. I had an EMG test which confirmed a little nerve damage--hence, the diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy. I also had unexplained weight loss and was having some breathing issues in spring. Since eliminating gluten my situation is vastly improved. I gained back some pounds and now have less problems with my feet and hands. Breathing no longer an issue as well. It is worth it to give up gluten. Yes, it is harder to dine out and essentials like bread are more expensive but, again, it is helping me. Also, no Rx drugs needed in order to overcome what was a challenging health issue. Wishing you success in your endeavors.
