Anyone using oxycodone to manage cancer pain? Please share.

My pain management team want to start me on oxycodone. I am somewhat afraid of its side effects. Anyone who is on it, please share your experiences.

My oncologist prescribed oxycodone for pain every 4 hours. It hardly took the edge off and caused constipation.
We then switched to morphine 15mg every 12 hours and that has worked much better for me.
I do use Miralax every morning and stay somewhat regular.

I was on the morphine twice a day but I still had break through pain. I took an oxy and it subsided within minutes. I am considering a nerve block.

Are you still alert during daytime with the morphine?

Yes. I really can’t tell any difference. It is only 15mg so maybe that’s why.

I take 30 mg every 12 hours, and have 15 mg of morphine I can take for break though pain.
I have no problems staying alert with the 30mg dose. When I have to take the extra dose for break though pain, I am usually resting and not trying to alert.
