anyone using Brinsupri in low dose?
Struggling with M. abscessus and bronchiectasis, I was so excited to start Brinsupri. Over the first 3 weeks of the low dose protocol my blood pressure rose from normal to 155/95. At manufacturer's suggestion stopped the RX BUT be aware the medicine stays around for several days. My blood pressure peaked 3 days later at 180/118. There were no changes in any other medicine.
So if you are using this Rx, check your blood pressure!
Even so, I wonder if anyone is using a lower dose like one tablet, twice a week? Would be willing to try again!

Hi, It's worth double checking guidelines for taking your blood pressure at home to make sure you're getting accurate numbers. FYI.

2 ReactionsI have one other thought since you’d like to be on the med. Did you have a dietary change with increased sodium (some is hidden) that could impact your body’s fluid/sodium balance?
Good luck to you with this.

1 ReactionI am open to every option. With coexisting M. abscessus, which is not being treated, pending evaluation in Denver, I would at least like to feel like something is being treated!
@smtdoc Have you discussed the blood pressure issue with your primary doc or the doc who prescribed Brinsupri?
There is much we don't know about long-term use of the medication by the wider population yet, so be sure everyone involved in your care knows what you are experiencing.
Yes, PCP, pulmonologist, and patient advocate organization were aware and involved in decision making
