Anyone using a pneumatic cervical traction collar?

Posted by rodturner @rodturner, 5 days ago

I am going to try a cervical traction collar. When I did PT yesterday my therapist did a stretch on my C-spine, straight up, that separated the vertebrae and relieved a lot of pain. He recommended a pneumatic-type C-collar, which I will be testing here in a few days. Anyone else ever use one of these?

@rodturner I will be interested to hear how your testing goes with the pneumatic collar. I know if discs are collapsing, the vertebrae bones get closer together, and doing a distraction like this will put a bit more space between the vertebrae temporarily. I had a cervical disc that collapsed by 50%, and like that, I could side bend my neck which caused it to touch the nerves that come out between the vertebrae. I've since had a cervical fusion, so that is all OK now, but I know how aggravating radicular pain can be.

I will keep the community informed. I have some hope for this. I'm enduring a flare-up of Cervical pain, don't know why. I haven't done anything risky. When the therapist did a stretch on my neck that opened up the vertebrae it certainly helped.

I used one for a few years and found it to be helpful

Just got it today and used for the first time. Seems to have a positive effect.
