Anyone having Gamma Knife for parafalcine (parafalx) meningioma?
I will be having Gamma Knife for a parafalcine meningioma, likely this summer (2024). My tumour was an incidental finding on an MRI for follow-up re a skull base schwannoma that was also treated by GK in 2003.
Please share your story so far, as I am eager to hear and discuss parafalcine meningioma experiences with others. Thank you.

I had the Gamma Knife treatment for a Meningioma in March. By accident I was told that I had the tumor, first discovered in 2006 and no one told me about it, until I had a fall in 2021. MySurgeon followed the growth of it, and when it got a certain size he recommended the Gamma Knife. I had an amazing Surgeon and team at the University of Pennsylvania. They were incredible. I came in the morning and went home 6 hours later. The only part I didn’t like was having a halo screwed into my head. I was out for that part, but, was awake when they took the contraption off. No pain. Had no after affects of the procedure, just, had to nurse the little pin holes in my forehead. I have my 6 month follow up in September. I feel good. Good luck.
Hello, I also have a parafalcine meningioma, 8mm. The neurosurgeon said it hasn't grown in 2 years so he suggested waiting another 6 months and repeat the MRI. What size is your meningioma? I have been wondering if I should get a second opinion about proceeding with gamma knife. My understanding is that once these tumors reach about 3 cm. gamma knife isn't an option.
I believe mine was 6mm. The surgeon said it would be easier to do it before it got too big.
Mine is 2.1 cm and they said the couldn’t do just gamma knife. Needs to be removed. I would want to do it as early as possible and hopefully yours will never have to be removed
I would get second opinion.
I had a 4.5 cm tumor of the superior right parietal lobe, they thought it was a meningioma . Had craniotomy Feb 2023.
5 days in hospital, pathology came back malignant.
New diagnosis: solitary fibrous tumor of the CNS. Grade 3
Very rare. 6 weeks of daily radiation.
Just had follow up and things look good!
Get second opinion, I wouldn’t want to wait!
Prayers for you.
