@suellen51 I am puzzled by your question. When I had the most recent MRI of my heart and lungs, only my upper torso was included in the imaging, there were no scans of my pelvis or hips. Were the scans between June 2022 and your visit to the orthopedic surgeon exclusivley of your lungs and thoracic spine?

Each time my oncologist orders CT scans of chest, abdomen & pelvis with and without contrast.
AVN was noted on right femoral head due to changes. Therefore, I reached out to my orthopedic doctor to discuss AVN. Orthopedic doctor ordered the MRI of hips and this is when the 6.6 x 2.9 lesion within the acetabulum. I was then referred back to Oncology and PET scan was scheduled and confirmed the cancerous lesion. My question was why was this not found by radiologist? Is it the location of lesion due to the equipment/slices they take?

I'm not radiologist but I think you are probably correct. Or they thought they were seeing more of the AVN. My nephew had a severe case, and his scans were quite complex looking. I'm in awe of what radiologists can see on the images.

Appreciate your thoughts. I believe radiologist do their best. However, the lesion was within the Left acetabulum, the AVN noted was on Right hip. I have reached out to my care team for further explanation.
