Anyone have luck getting financial aid to be treated at Mayo?

Posted by LPRSOB @jdbarr1, Aug 4 2:32am

I live near Mayo Clinic Phoenix/Scottsdale but I am disabled (not currently receiving disability though) in my 30s. I am on the state Medicaid plan which Mayo does not accept.

Currently, out of many issues, my biggest problem is chronic pain developed about 1 year ago. I can already feel that basically my doctors cannot treat this condition- there are many factors going into it that make it seem like its only going to be curable by a more specialized place like Mayo. I called about financial aid and they said my doctors, if I have tried everything, can fill out a form to ask for financial aid on my behalf.

How strict is Mayo with financial aid? Would they help someone in their 30s without a life threatening condition provided they tried everything with no luck? Has anyone here ever gotten into Mayo via financial aid?

I have been a patient at Mayo since 2006. I am a member of their legacy program and also donate to their support departments.

One of those that I donate to a recurring basis is called the Good Samartian Fund. It is a financial assistance program that are for those without insurance or insurance does not pay. I don't give a lot but try to keep giving in hopes others who can benefit from Mayo can do so even if financially or insurance wide could do.

Contact Mayo about Good Samaritan Fund and program or financial assistance programs. A mentor who monitor posts could probably give you more information on financial assistance programs at Mayo.
Good Luck!

I am not familiar with details of financial assistance at all Mayo locations, but the follow page may provide some assistance of what is available.

I'm not sure what the criteria is for receiving financial assistance but thought I would share some of Mayo Clinic's information on the topic that might be helpful:

If you need to be treated for HCM, please look at https://www.4hcm.org/ which is an organization that informs and helps people with HCM. There is the Lori Fund which helps people financially. Wishing you success!
