Anyone have experience with digoxin?
I take Eliquis and metropolol and started digoxin right before I had a cardio version back in July and all was well. At my follow up appointment, my dr. said to start taking the digoxin every other day, rather than daily. My Afib came back. He is now referring me to an electrophysiologist who is based in Nashville and only visits my town every other week. Anyone else had issues with digoxin?

Hi @lindabuza.
If you have not reviewed this already you may want to read Mayo Clinic’s overview about the medication digoxin, typically used to treat heart failure or in your case, atrial fibrillation.

I am tagging @dnanewnorth89 that has made reference to both cardio version and dioxin. Also @geomom that has also recently started digoxin.
A discussion in the Heart Rhythm Condition Support Group has good conversation about cardio version use and success that may be helpful: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/cardioversion-and-metoprolol/
What the reason your doctor gave for backing off the frequency of taking digoxin, and what dose are you taking?

Hello,
Yes, my EP must be getting frustrated with my old heart but he keeps trying. I'm an 84 year old male, which had a porcine mitral valve sewed in 15 years ago due to bacterial endocarditis. Lot's of scar tissue, the valve still works. But in the last year and half have had 2 cardio-versions and one ablation that hasn't helped. Have both A-fib and A-flutter, He recently Inserted a biventricular ICD, Two previous ones were 2 wire devices. This 3 wire unit didn't help much as yet, and after many meds trying to halt the fib or flutter or be tolerated , here's where I'm at now--on Eliquis 5m, 2x also on Digoxin 125 mg, Metoprolol 25 mg, Entresto 24 mg/ 26 mg, 2x. These being tolerated for now, and feeling ok in spite of it all.
My EF % is sitting around 36%, which keeps me moving but not running. If that keeps declining by next echo-cardiogram, then
looking at an AV node ablation running then on the device battery's. Hope this makes sense and that we all have some luck.
