Anyone have cataract surgery while on Kevzara?
I am scheduled for cataract surgery this month … my eye surgeon said to be off kevzara two weeks before and two weeks after surgeries. That would mean 6 weeks total off the medication, right eye one week and left eye two weeks later. Contrary to that opinion my rheumatologist said it wouldn’t be a problem to continue kevzara.
Any input from those who have experienced surgery while on Kevzara would be helpful.

I had cataract surgery 3 months after I stopped KEVZARA. It worked well to reduce and get off prednisone but I had numerous infections. So I stopped using KEVZARA. Your ophthalmologist is probably concerned with a potential infection while on KEVZARA. Worst case if you get off KEVZARA for 6 weeks and have inflammation you could have a few weeks back on prednisone. I stopped KEVZARA and went back on prednisone. There’s no tapering of the KEVZARA as it stays in system for a few months after stopping.

I never want to be on prednisone again.
You stated your surgery was while you were off kevzara for 3 months as I am a current user. I have not had any known infections while on Kevzara. Maybe I can lengthen my time between injections while having the surgeries. Guess I’ll have to see what the doctors conclude.
