Anyone have a Peripheral Nerve Stimulator for low back?

Has anyone had a Peripheral Nerve Stimulator implanted for chronic low back and SI joint pain and had a BAD experience? The site of the manufacturer has wonderful testamonials but I have heard they could make things even worse. Has anyone here has a bad experience?

Are you speaking about a spinal cord stimulator? I have had 6 spinal surgeries and the last two neurosurgeons I have seen both recommended a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I haven't done it yet so I am interested in finding out what other's have to say. I do have a friend who had one implanted about three years ago and she said it helps with her pain quite a bit.

I did have one but it was in the early years and not able to withstand an MRI. I had it removed after a couple of years. In the big picture, I really didn’t get much relief from it while I had it. Not sure it’s worth it but it’s just one man’s opinion.

I have lots of pain from lots of nerve damage. i get much releif using a couple of small portable wireless TENs units. They are annoying and very sticky, they bother my skin, they fall off, they show under my clothingsometimes but they do help...amazingly well. it is my understanding the electrical pulse interupts the pain signal my nerves are trying to send,. My doc says what I'm getting is a "Peripheral Nerve Stimulator", to help the pain from my SI joint area and lumbar spine.

I am trying to get a SPRINT for nerve pain in left hip. It seems safe by all the research. Let me know how you do, I can’t get in until November! I have tried drugs, tens machines, injections, with no relief except from Tramadol.

I will let you know how it works.
I also find that heat helps alot. I also use liquid magnesium and give myself a foot massage hitting all the right pressure points also provides some amazing relief from the constant nerve pain.
Tramdol will work now but likely stop working eventually as your body gets used to it. It's the infortunate way the opiods work....and being a pain patient taking opiods is horrible!..the way people who need these meds are treated by everyone in the "system" is horrible.
