Anyone had ear problems after Reclast?

Posted by margee3 @margee3, Jan 24 4:57pm

Hi,
I took one infusion of Reclast 6 months ago and I am still having ear side effects. I have Ménière’s Disease in my right ear and was very concerned about side effects since it does mention ear congestion as one of many side effects. my doctor said it would not affect my ear. I followed the instructions before and after the infusion. After 5 days I started to hear low voices in my right ear 24/7 for three weeks. It’s called auditory hallucinations. Finally stopped, but now I have hyperacusis in my right ear and tinnitus in my left ear, which was normal. If you have any kind of ear problems do not take Reclast.

I hope you get relief in the very near future. I would encourage you to report this to the FDA.

I agree with @normahorn, report it to the FDA because, just because, someone else may not experience it, doesn't mean it cant happen. Everyone is different. I experienced many bad side effects including an ocular right eye swelling so bad, I thought it would blind me. It is always important to share the experiences so people and the medical community see that it does happen. It also lets others decide if they want to make that choice prior to a medical procedure/s. As noted, everyone is going to react differently, and they have to make a decision that is best for them. I hope you heal completely, and feel better soon.

I have already contacted the FDA. I don’t expect a response or any action on their part.
